19.30; during summer from 9.00 to 13.00 and from 16.00 to

day from 10.00 to 19.30.
Rome also hosts a number of open-air markets, the more
colorful and picturesque ones being:
Situated in the heart
of the city, in Piazza Campo de' Fiori, it is open from
Monday to Saturday to 7.00 to 13.30. Every morning the most
colorful possible it sells fruit, vegetables, meat, fish,
poultry, dried fruit and legumes and of course, fresh
flowers. The excellent gastronomical and bread shops around
the piazza complete the range of products available.
Open on Sundays from
6.30 to 14.00, a brick-a-brack market where you can find
everything from shoes, dresses, bags, suitcases, camping
equipment, bed linen, towels, pots and pans, kitchen
utensils, plants, pets, car accessories, CDs and old vintage
LPs.
Close to the Metro
stop Flaminio, it opens on Sunday from 10.00 to 18.00. It is
a very unusual market where private vendors sell clothes and
other various items. Day by day, it has become a well
attended lounge where members of roman "society" love to
meet up and snap up bargains.

THE NIGHT LIFE
Rome is a very
animated city, it is famous not only for its monuments but
for being the centre of the "dolce vita". Bars and cafes are
open until 2.00 in the morning, whilst discotheques and
night clubs close much later.
There are numerous
cinemas, showing latest releases, as well as classics and
limited release movies, showing in cinema clubs. Popular
movies are shown in open-air cinemas during the summer. The
theater season goes from October to May, and involves over
100 theatre companies, which offer all types of shows;
comedies by Goldoni, Pirandello, DeFilippo, french and
english classics, revues, cabaret, satyr and amateur theatre.
Tickets can be purchased on the night. There are numerous
shows, which take place in particularly evocative ambiences.
Throughout the year many concerts, mainly classical music
are held in basilicas and ancient villas. The opera season
goes from November to June at the teatro dell'Opera, but
some companies perform in July and August at the Terme di
Caracalla.

EVENTS
Rome is a city which
offers various attractions all year round. To keep an update
on what is available we suggest the local weekly paper in
ROMA C'E' which continually informs you of what the city has
to offer.
There are also regular shows and feasts held in various
suburbs or single streets, here is one:
It is held in spring
and autumn in one of Rome's most characteristic
streets. The Christmas edition is held in Piazza di Spagna.
Is held every year
between mid June to mid July on the banks of the Tiber
River (Tevere) between the bridge at Castel Sant'Angelo and
the Cavour
Bridge; is open from 18.00 to 1.00 in the morning. This
event mainly
involves local Italian hand made wares and crafts, but there
are also food
stands selling pasta, jams and preserves, olive oil, wine
and liquor at
below shop prices.
This local street
feast is organized every year at the end of July.
Trastevere fills with stalls and kiosks where you can eat
anything you like
and find many things to buy.
This fair is held in
Via Dei Coronari twice a year. The first edition begins
during the second half of May and is open from 10.00 to
13.00 and from 16.00
to 23.00. The second edition is held between September and
October, and is
